Tactile ground surface indicator system for blind and visually impaired people, for adhesion onto indoor surfaces. DIN 32984 compliant.

This system consists of individual trapezoidal ribs and truncated cone studs. The standard arrangement of the guide strips is 3–5 ribs parallel to one another at an axial spacing of 55 mm. Longitudinally, the ribs are glued down at a spacing of 30 mm. The tactile warning surface in this system consists of diagonally arranged studs.

STEPLINE INDOOR integrates harmoniously into the existing architecture without disturbing the spatial concept. The functional arrangement guides the blind and visually impaired while attractively organizing the space. The system can also provide emergency exit guidance in case of fire.

The surfaces are ready for walking on immediately after applying the ribs and studs. They reach full durability after 72 hours. The guide lines are "broken" in order to facilitate floor cleaning.

The German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired [Deutscher Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband, DBSV] has this to say:

„Tactile detectability with a cane was evaluated as good, and there was also detectability by foot. The 3-ribbed variant is sufficient for smooth surfaces. For rough surfaces or heavily frequented pathway markings, preference is given to the 5-ribbed variant.“
